The Night Wind Treatment Centres (NWTC) is a unique treatment facility designed to meet the needs of referral agents, youth, their families and communities. The NWTC provides clear, congruent and in-depth treatment aimed at youth and their families.
The Centre provides a safe and nurturing, country homelike environment. This natural environment promotes health and enhances well-being. The setting also supports a healthy and gentle transition into the program, as well as when returning back to their community.
Guiding Principles of NWTC
Night Wind Treatment Centres is guided by the following principles of wholistic treatment. The principles respect both cultural and western practices, integrating the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects.
- Emphasizes the excellence of the Aboriginal beliefs and traditions
- Recognizes Aboriginal healing practices as essential and gives clients the opportunity to be exposed to these methods of treatment
- Re spects the individual healing preferences of all clients
- Treatment is carried out in consultation with the client = s family, extended family and the community
- Focuses on acknowledging and changing the related attitudes and behaviours of the clients, with the objective of strengthening the family and community
- The client will graduate from treatment possessing new skills and recognizing their resiliency and uniqueness
