Purpose: To share knowledge about topics critical to Indigenous lifelong learning.

Approach: To create a space for knowledge exchange, listening, reflection and dialogue within the context of diverse perspectives on lifelong learning.

Topics Covered: (Animation Theme Bundles – ATBs)

    2. Nourishing the Learning Spirit
    3. Aboriginal Language Learning
    4. Diverse Educational Systems and Learning
    5. Pedagogy of Professionals and Practitioners in Learning
    6. Technology and Learning

Key Questions to be Explored:

    1. What are promising practices in Aboriginal learning?
    2. What are gaps in Aboriginal learning?
    3. What constitutes success in Aboriginal learning?

Process and Format: General information sessions will be offered by Animation Theme Bundle (ATB) teams sharing the preliminary learnings which have been gleaned through the literature, programs and community initiatives to support Aboriginal learning in each of the themes. Participants will be invited to join in on this learning process in small groups. Each small group will have a volunteer facilitator and recorder assigned to ensure that all participant comments and ideas are sought, heard and captured for the Conference report.

A final session will be offered on Redefining Success in Aboriginal Learning identifying how best to monitor and report achievements in Aboriginal learning.

Responses and Results: A range of participants will be selected at the Conference to share what they have learned at the end of the Conference and to share the application of their learning (modeling the transformation of knowledge shared) within their contexts (of community, of institutions, in professional practice, in leadership, etc.).

A Conference report will be prepared and circulated to participants and to the public.
